Clam shelter problem

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Clam shelter problem

Post by JP »

Was at Norris Bait and Tackle today and the owner told me that there is a problem with the material this year (is not CSA approved) and no more will be shipped. Anyone else heard of this?
Cheers

Hey JP

I think you are getting your portables mixed up.

Last year the Pak Shak models were recalled due to non-fire retardant materials being used.

Clam have always been top-notch portables.

Apparently a couple of people had some close calls with the Pak-shaks last year and this prompted them being pulled off shelves.

I checked out the new three man model this year and it seems to be a great product and hopefully they changed the material this year.

Thanks Seaweed. The guy from Norris said that he
could not get in the clams because they did not have a CSA stamp. There were no problems with the units.
He can not get them from any supplier and not because of being sold out.

I know Bass Pro has Clam and ClamX2s sitting on there showroom floor? The X2 just came out this year. Give Allan at Riverside a call or email him. I recently purchased a jiffy power auger from him. Shipping was only $25. He listes clams on his website. I remember Noris's had a fully rigged Yukon sitting around last year as someone ordered it in and then decided they dident want it? Maybe they just dont want to order them in anymore? Strange????

The Clam fish traps meet the fire standards, I found out the X series do not, I will have to look into it more,
