Hello all,
I was wondering if there are any areas within 2.5-3 hours to do some float fishing. I have been in Ottawa for two years now, but still do not know the area very well. I am not looking for exact spots, just a water body.
Thanks for the help everyone.

Thrillhouse,
There are a lot of tubing opportunities within 2 hours of Ottawa. It all depends on what species you're interested in targeting. I would recommend picking up the Eastern Ontario Backroad book, as it discusses the many rivers and lakes that are accessible. Keep in mind that you will probably want to purchase accurate topo maps for any of the areas that are not adjacent to hard surface roads.
Here are a couple lakes to get you started:
lac La Peche (Gatineau Park) [Bass, Pike]
Meech Lake (Gatineau Park) [bass, specs, lakers]
Shiner Lake (Calabogie Highlands) [bows]
Lower Twin (Calabogie Highlands) [bows]

Thrillhouse,
Sorry about that, I just noticed on the other section that you were referring to center pin float fishing as opposed to stillwater fishing.
That said, you're pretty much limited to the Lake Ontario tribs. If you go down to NY state you can fish a number of the rivers down there as well.
