To get back on topic, Jazman has the best and stinkiest bait on the go. I find that minnows (dead or alive) work the best for the big cats but worms are a viable 2nd place. Evening fishing for the cats works best but that does not mean that they don't feed during the day.

The Ottawa River here in Ottawa holds 6 different types of catfish, the largest being Channel Cats. Here is a terrific link for all the types of fish in the river.

guys on the detroit river have huge sucess using shrimp here. they buy a cheep shrimp ring. hope this helps folks out.

a great fish to taget. I am new at it and still trying for
an "ole grand daddy".
Around Alymer Island is where I fish.
You see a red thundercraft out there say hi...

Hey g unis....I try to bring bait that doesn't turn into finger food but next time out i'll give it a go. I have heard that it is good bait for sturgeon as well. Anybody have an opinion on this sight for shrimp fishing for sturgeon? Is this a loaded question? We'll find out soon enough on As the Waterwheel Turns.

An old trick my grandfather showed me was to poke a lot of holes in a can of dog food and throw it in. It act's like chum and brings them in.

Hey there taylor. I do the same thing except I built a canister full of holes to dump the dog food into then I lower the unit off the boat ( rope attached). Cost 12 bucks at Rona in the plumbing dept to put together. Not 100% positive it works though.

Sounds like it would work. And you could fil it with whatever you wanted. Liver, sardines, minnows. Fantastic idea.

Thanks for the tip, it's one of the things I was looking for. Something new to try.

Also of note, some people catch small fish, but at least the DO make reports.

What personal attacks? We are only stating our opinions on flooding the forum with these old, 2004 threads.

Why do you even enjoy doing this? It just seems your doing this to get us all angry.
