Saturday on the Madawaska

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Saturday on the Madawaska

Post by Figmo »

A huge thanks to FishFishFish for the invite to go to Madawaska with him on Saturday. Here I was moaning to the world that I would have to sit on the side of the Ottawa to do any fishing and sure never expected to get a chance to fish a lake. THANKS FISHFISHFISH.

That said it was great to get on the lake but the weather really didn't help. I haven't seen wind like that for a long time. We fished most of the spots shown on the map but didn't have any luck. The Fish&Game guys dropped by to check licences around 1100 hrs and couldn't give us any advice. Everyone one else was in the same boat (pardon the pun).

At about noonhour I picked up this guy in one of the side inlets on a deep troll.

This guy is a personal best for me! As it turned out this was the only fish caught for the day. I guess we were saving them for another day.

Again thanks FishFishFish for a great day!!!

Glad to hear you got onto a fish period...

Now before anyone jumps all over Figmo for posting pics of out of season fish..(musky)...he PM'd me about posting pics and said he caught a 10 lb pike and wanted to show the pic in his report...he clearly wasn't aware of what he caught...

So lay off him if yer thinking of drilling him...I'm sure the fish went back for us all to catch in the fall...

You may have the right thing in mind RJ but as soon as he knew he had an ilegal picture of an out of season muskie he should of not posted it. Muskies should be water released and not pictured when out of season, now he didn't know he had a muskie at the time but he knows now so the picture should disapear and he will know next time to not take pictures of fish out of season.

There has been a lot of talk these last couple of years about OOS pictures and how illegal they are and ignorance should not be an excuse to get away with it.
Catch and release them all

Leave it alone...He clearly posted it without knowing. No need for anyone to be upset when it is an honest mistake!!!

Honest Mistake

Post by Seaweed »

Way to go..... nice fish.

He didn`t know it was bad and yes Richard your point is well made for sure.... and he will know to watch for the stripes on the muskie and the dots on the pike next time.... he is just lucky that Ranger Rick wasn`t right beside him when he boated the fish.

It would have been a nice pike to brag about for sure though....

Post by Figmo »

OK guys am I red. Thanks to all who pointed out my mistake. You'll all be glad to know that it went back in the water right away, no worse for wear.
