Todd, Are you serious in thinking you can use a formula where they suggests to not account for girth on a carp?....using that formula a 45 inch carp weighs 25 pounds...
Being that I have no idea how big this "Fishtick " is... ...but I'd bet that fish is between 28 and 35 pounds....
Just smashed my all-time freshwater PB with this whopper of a carp! Roughly measured 38"x29". Which should put it at around ~30-35lbs. Caught another that was a bit smaller at about 25lbs.
Nice...that musta kept you busy for a while!
Got a a stupid question....I see the reference PB used periodically...
what would PB mean?
pb means personal best
and congrats on a monster of a carp
Congrats on the PB carp. Way over 20lbs.....don't know why people feel like they need to 2nd guess fish wieghts....either way it was in your arms you know best....Awesome job
RJ, the formulas are just "good" estimates. The rational for not taking girth into consideration for long bodied fish like muskie, pike and carp is that the the girth is (statistically) proportional to the length of the fish, unlike say LM Bass which tend to develop a pot belly after reaching their max length.

Why do you need the length of that record fish? Just use your formula for 'carp and long bodied species'
length cubed = weight * 3500
So the length is around 51.25"
And that guy is 10 feet tall

First of all nice fish ...
but you know guys .. its pretty ridiculous when someone posts a PB on this site and some people are breathing down his neck saying it isnt the weight that he says it is ... pretty darn f'n silly ...

It's even more silly when that someone happens to be a Mod.
