Cumberland launch to McBay

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Cumberland launch to McBay

Post by GuinnessGuy »

Can you boat in to McBay from the MNR launch in Cumberland?

It looks do-able on Google-Earth, but then again, it's showing ice at the Eastern edge of McBay.

Water is high hopefully you won't have an issue. But make sure to trim up your motor. There was a couple of deadheads in the trail last year not sure where the ice moved them to this year. If your boat is shallow it should be fine. Deep V I might think twice!!

Yep, it's doable..... I did it last year with my old boat.... although i think it's fairly far from cumberland.

Dan's right, there is some wood in there so just trim up the motor, go slow, and keep your eyes open :D

Excuse my ignorance what what are you referring to as McBay? I often fish that area of water around Cumberland and am not really sure of what you are referring to.

Yeah I guess it's not really that far.......

McBay = McLaurin Bay across from Petrie.

It gets mentioned a lot on the internet

That bay is easy to get in, just watch right at the entrance to the bay it is deep enough but the deep part is not too wide. Lot's of snot rockets in there.

I made it in there last week, no problem in the spring, but it is really shallow in late summer depending on how they regulate the water levels in the river.

When you refer to the Cumberland launch, are you referring to Quigley Hill?

I guess you're referring to Baie Clement. Straight across from Quigley Hill launch. Easy to get into but watch for dead heads on the way in.
