I want to know what you think about building your own spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, "chatter" style baits, flippin' jigs etc...

My experience has been that making baits is often more expensive than just buying them pre-made. But it is still worthwhile in some cases in order to get baits that work just the way you want, or that fill a very specialized application. Where a lure making kit is really valuable is in having the necessary components to tinkering with existing baits. such as changing blades, skirts etc.

Making your own Lures!
I have been making my own wooden baits for a number of years. Give most of them to friends etc.
Would love to try my hand at BIG spinnerbaits. If anyone knows of a GOOD QUALITY kit, PLEASE let me know!! Some of the benders are quite costly!!
It is truly a UNIQUE feeling to catch a fish on something you made!!
Have been making my own leaders also. Like to think they are BETTER than store bought ones....I put a quality swivel at BOTH ends to eliminate line twist
All my fishin' buddies swear by them.....not at them.
Gotta have something to do in the winter months as I am not much of an Ice Fishing guy....can't sit still long enough!!

Hey FISHIN'T.....check out Luremaking.com. They have musky spinnerbait parts (1.5oz,2oz,2.5oz). They carry painted or un-painted heads etc. I've made a bunch of their stuff and actually caught fish on them. They have a good variety of skirt material as well. The only bending required is the very tip of the vertical arm where the top spinner attaches and I've done it successfully with just a couple of pairs of good sizes pliers. Give 'em a try. good luck.....
