carrot stix rods

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I had one in my hands at BPS in Orlando....almost bought it. I was told by the BPS dude that they had been having a lot of returns (but have also heard that that issue was only in early models...).

Biggest thing that made me put it back on the shelf....that thing sittin in my boat while i run to the can screams STEAL ME.

just my 2 cents.

I have a 7ft med spinning one. and was using a 2500 stradic on it.

and honestly I freakin hate it. I find the line does not come off of it very well. its just not a fun rod to cast with.

My .02

I wouldn't get one, for $150 you can get a better rod and I would say no its not worth the extra $50 for a Gold.
Hate the guides on them and they have been known to have breakage issues. Not sure how much longer they will be around.
They are very light though, just think you can do better with your money.

I sold them at Paddletales and had a lot of problems with breakage. Originally, they would just credit my account and I would warranty over the counter, then all the people that I dealt with quit and I had trouble getting them (E21) to return a phone call. Talked to the vice-pres at a show in the States about the 15 broken rods I have here. My customers were looked after but I am out of pocket for what is really their problem. He said he would look after me after the show, but what he MEANT was get out of my booth. The show was 6 weeks ago and we are back to the phone call non-returns. My advice is spend your money on a rod with someone that will be around next year.

In addition, the original rods were the better ones. E21 changed manufacturers last year and the new rods were not nearly as nice. I had a CLTX79XHF which broke. The replacement rod was nowhere near as nice a blank.

Wow, Ed, that really sucks that a "supposedly" prominent, up-and-coming manufacturer would treat a dealer like that.

Drop 'em like a bad habit once you (hopefully) get your money back.

I hope none of their pro-staffers will be at your store in a week and a bit...

There was some buzz on some other fishing sites awhile back as to why Boyd Duckett walked away from e21:

Andy....you could leave an orange Corvette (rag top & 6 speed no less) unlocked and running while you went to the can and it would still be there if I walked by. Orange is why I bought the Kistler and not the Carrot Stick. I love my Kistler...........

spend the 150 on somethin else. you'll be much happier. they have had too many issues with quality... this is why boyd duckett left the company. the rods he helped design and used, were then changed without his knowledge and produced much cheaper with less quality control. once he found out, he left the company.

Now Boyd not only makes the ugliest fishing rods ever made, they also have the worst name too!

Check out-----Micro Magic rods!
Man, thats a horrible name!

IMO the only thing he has going with these rods is that Ken Whiting went with him so the rods may actually not be all that bad because the look and name sure are!

I would suggest you go to Paddletales on the weekend of the 26th-28th when Ed has his Wing Ding Spring Sale, there will be reps there to help.
