Farren Lake ( Something Smells Rotten)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

It would be interesting to see a list of just WHO
owns cottages/property around that lake.
May give you some insight into WHY
this continues to go on!! :P :P

Relax fellas....there are lots of lakes that are MNR stocked that have limited access at best.....you've been told there is access.....where it is.....how many Bogie lakes actually have a boat ramp that is usable? It is what it is.

Cyber... no one special owns a property on the lake.

I have a buddy that owns Cobblestone resort and it's all private except the spot to launch a canoe.

RJ, I think there are 2 totally different sets of circumstances in play here. :?

Firstly, I'll agree there are lots of stocked little lakes up around Bogie with limited/difficult access and no 'ramps' to speak of, but they aren't
totally encompassed by cottages and private property with only a small and very dangerous access point.

And secondly, I can't believe there aren't any politicians/enforcement agents/high ranking ministry employees or something of that nature
that they continue to pour hundreds or thousands of stocked fish into that small lake when the vast majority of the public has very limited access.

Just my opinion, I may be way off base but as this thread states:
"Something smells rotten here"!!!!!!! :x

I'll never convince a conspiracy theorist....

But I can assure you....ask the guys who try to hit these lakes....there are lots of them that have the same issue.

Like RJ pointed out, there are tons of lakes that are not so easy to get to that are regularly stocked. If you contact the local MNR office, they will tell you how to access the lake.

Hey guys

We're not talking about a small trout pond here. Farren Lake is about 8 km. long and about 1 1/2 to 2 km. wide at the widest point.
I don't think there is some sort of conspiracy, just an overly protective and overly aggressive Property Owners Assoc. that treat the
lake like they own it. Found an ad for some property on the lake and it was advertised as a private lake. Will contact the MNR tomorrow
to find out the access points, and let you know.

I think the derby is a great idea but I would go one step further and ensure that it is Catch&Release. Now hear me out before you disagree!

While taking the fish that technically belong to you may seem alluring—in a poke to the ribs kind of way—wouldn't showing everyone that anglers like us can and will take advantage of our rights to fish these lakes and in doing so leave no impact on the fishery? Proving that allowing access to these lakes doesn't mean that they will be depleted of their resources.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be fun to b!tch slap someone who is trying to take away your rights with one of their own splake....but yeah.

Good point... for an organized derby it would be better PR to practice C&R.
