On a budget ...... Flasher Question

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

fiish to answer a part of your question about " why would you want to see something that small.

You have to know exactly where your lure is all the time, fishing for crappies we sometime use jigs that are 1/32 oz which is about the size of matchhead, add a very small plastic or a maggot to that. So lets say that you are fishing in 20 feet of water and the crappies are suspending at 12ft, how will you know where your jig is so that you can hover your jig just above the fish.?

If you fish for walleyes it would be good buy a flasher that has some kind of zoom on it. Because a walleye sitting on bottom with it's belly touching bottom you will not pick it up without a zoom. But at least you will see it raise to your offering. My first was a Vex FL-8 and it was a great first unit, but being mainly a walleye ice fisherman I needed the zoom feature of FL-18.

But just getting a Vex more than tripled my success ice fishing and the next year even doubled that with an FL-18.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

An ice cream container lid

Fiiish I bought a HBird 343c portable unit and bought the ice ducer seperately. The ICE-345c I believe replaces it, just need a summer transducer for summer use.
Alot cheaper than buying 2 different units.

Oh yeah Cprince I believe there is a flaw in your design as I ate the red swizzel sticks and am now experiencing interference. :o
