Hummingbird Fishfinder Help

Post by bostonwhaler »

Hey guys. I was wondering if you guys have any experience with this. \I have noticed that my fish Finder does not measure the depth properly. It does seem to consistently tell me the water is not as deep as it is. It will read 6 feet when I am in 10-12. It seems to read shallow all the time

You did not say which Humminbird model you are using but both my old Matrix 15 and my 383C unit have a Depth Offset setting. This allows you to measure depth from a predetermined point above or below the transducer face. This can be useful if your boat has an extermely deep draft because you can set the depth offset for the lowest point in the water (usually the engine skeg) and have more assurance that you will not hit bottom.

The Depth Offset setting is located in the Setup Menu. Check your User manual and if you dont have it anymore, the Humminbird website has soft copies of most manuals available for down load.

Hope this helps. Good luck

Hey
I checked the book for it and it does not mention any adjustments. It is a Hummingbird TCR 101

My Humminbird sx100 will bounce from 5 feet to 20 feet like a yo-yo.
It's a POS.

A depth offset of 4-6 feet?! What are you fishing out of, an oil tanker?

Bostonwhaler, sorry I can't offer any real help with your problem but I doubt it's the offset.
Perhaps weeds are throwing it off or maybe the unit is just not working properly.
Either way you look at it, it sucks. :|

it seems that your fish finder is not functioning well.

did you try to check it by others or compare it with others?
