Where to mount transducer

Post by Malyon18 »

Well I just picked myself up a new elite 7 and just trying to install it, the only step i have left is mounting the transducer and well I am looking for opinions on where exactly i should put it. As can be seen in the picture I have 3 options, the first is to remove the old hummingbird one and mount it there, the second is to mount it beside the hummingbird one and just remove the one piece of the old transducer and the last option would be to mount it on the bottom step of the hull. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

benifits to both, hull thru cant be knocked off if you beech your boat, but i think the stern mount is more acurate, but the hull you dont loose your read at high speeds

I made that little bracket to make it easier to level the ducer, it's a bird SI / DI unit, they only work well up to 6-7 mph , so it's out of the water on plane, but my other is epoxied in the bilge and works fine to 75 mph before it starts to lose bottom lock.Image

You cant mount a di ducer thru hull, it has to go on transom, j/plate or trolling motor
