I am looking for a spot to go fishing.
I am looking at heading out of town for the next long weekend and am looking for a spot within 3 hours of the west end to go. I am looking to stay in a Hotel, Inn something along that line. My wife and daughter will be coming along but will not partake in much fishing so if there is some sights for them to take in while I fish that would be a big bonus.
So if anyone has any specific lake/accommodation recommendation feel free to share.
You can send me a PM if you think posting a recommendation is too much like advertising.
Thank you in advance for the input.

You might consider the Huntsville area. I can't speak to the fishing available but there are many lakes in the area. Huntsville is a great little town of 18,000. Deerhurst Resort is there and would be great for wife and daughter. I overnighted 5 km outside of Huntsville 2 weeks ago at a beautiful B&B.

1) 1000 Islands around Gananoque/Kingston - great fishing and lots of choice of nonfishing activities in these towns, as well as in the national park, centering on Morrisburg; although the park staff may be on strike. Fort Henry is also near by. Across the border, Alexandria Bay has lots of entertainment to offer, as well. There are lots of choice of accommodations thru out the area.
2) Further down the St Lawrence - you can fish the St Lawrence - Lake St Francis and downstream while the nonfishers go to town. Afterall Montreal is not far off.
3) Heard great things about Nangor resort on the Ottawa R. The resort has activities, which you can look-up on the web. ttp://www.realontario.ca/listings/listing.asp?id=3702
As for fishing info, I am sure you have read the many excellent posts for all these areas on this board.
Hope you have a good vacation.
