Bass'in... is fun!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Bass'in... is fun!

Post by Fish'INBud »

Well most of my time spent on the water has been chasing down walleye. We decided to start fishing bass recently with mixed success. Seems like when they are on, your busy all day. I think I am hooked on bass fishing. Caught this one on a texas rigged tequila sunrise worm. Not sure about the size, but the smile was 19 inches.

Nice fish. :P I tried Texas-rigging a rubber worm for the 1st time on a recent outing and got a nice (15-1/2") largemouth. Yours looks bigger.

It's great to be rewarded with a fish on for trying something different. Got to give credit to Floatfishin' and Chrome, as they were using Texas-rigged (Yums I think?) worms during our July get-together. I wanted to try it, too, and I liked this method; I thought it was a fun way to fish.

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Seems the more I look into bass fishing techniques the more I realize what little I know... as long as there is the odd nice bass along the way I am gonna keep trying...

Bass on Quinte

Post by Fish'INBud »

There is bass on Quinte... really? heheheh Man it's one thing trading off walleye fishing for bass on the Ottawa, but I really don't think I can even think of bass on Quinte.

Man, when the bass are on, they are a hoot. Yesterday, they were just slammin' buzzbaits on the Mississippi (and is the buzzer not the most fun bait of all?) I've gotta go back to the store for more buzzers. The one I was using is destroyed -- all bent up so it won't run right. I believe the smallies are putting on the fall feedbag, so good times are ahead.

For sure!! The bass were sure biting today in the Ottawa! My bud and I went out this aft, around 3, and headed out to our usual fishin spot to try out his new bag of YUM crawdaddy's. I started with a dinger, he threw on the crawdaddy.

After about and hour or so, there wasn't much action, so we moved to another spot closer to shore in a weed bed. All I can say is WOW! The Bass were on! We immediately got some hits. I raked in a couple small mouths, maybe 1 pound or so, almost had another 3 or 4 lb'er in the boat, till the poo poo turned and got loose...my bud was just reeling them in! He likely pulled in 15, all fom 3-5 lb range - some of em were beautes!

I have to say, I cannot believe how well those YUMS work. Pretty amazing for fake bait.

Happy Bassin!
