I have a gripe I want to air....seriously!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I have a gripe I want to air....seriously!!

Post by Wall-I-Guy »

I've had it with these big Dept stores with their fishing Depts. Why is it always in the very back corner? Why wouldn't they put women's lingerie or something to that effect back there? Don't they understand, when you're going in "there" to buy gear, it's usually a last ditch attempt to get something.

I'm not being a male chauvenist here, I'm serious. When I go in to buy fishing gear, I want to get it, and then get the heck out to go use it. I won't stop at the TV's, Men's clothing, food section and make split second decisions to buy something else. Women do, it's their nature, they're shoppers :!:

I think as a group we carry some "consumer might" if you will. Let's rise up against this injustice.

"Fishing gear to the front of the store I say" well, "at least the middle"

I'm mad as heck , :x and I ain't gonna take it anymore :!:

Pipe down there Mr. Wig.

I personally find the location way in back to be a perfect hiding spot. Let's not make rash decisions.

Hey WIG,
I sort of agree with you. But I also agree with FH. It is a great little spot to hide until the missus finds you. However, I think a good business plan would include putting lingerie, etc. in the front of good tackle shops like Baitcasters and Paddletales (alphabetical order only, no preference implied). This is because you would have to go through the thong section to get to your gear, and I can bet you would do one of two things:

1. Become full of testosterone and be ready for a day of great fishing, or
2. Stop and buy something for the missus, which might make her happy and give you a chance to earn some "points" while you go off fishing.

..its all about the points.. its like Canadian Tire money... the more you get the better off you are!

Ahhhh wig it's got everything to do with fishing gear being the most important item in the store !

Take grocery stores for instance... Milk is always at the back far corner of the store.. why

FACT - the longer you're in the store the more likely you are to buy something.

FACT - walking past 50 isles to get to what you want means your more likely to buy something you didn't go in there for

It's all to do with marketing and sales... don't for a second think that an item has been placed somewhere just because....there are serious studies that place items in certain locations for major reasons.

Why do stores not place much within the first 15 ft.. because you're too busy unzipping your coat.. it's a dead zone.

Cheaper items tend to be on the ends of isles to draw you down the isle.
Fruit and veg.. fresh prduce near the door for eye candy and for scent.. draw the customers in... I could go on and on

Millions go into designing stores... so back to square one.. fishing gear is the most important department..

Don't know if that's a good idea :?
I'd hate to see a novice...thinking these were the latest lures...being caught on the lake by the MNR.... casting a thong

where, where

Post by Jigs »

WIG;

When we go into any CTC or Wallymart we KNOW where the fishing stuff is...........at the back.

Took me 20 odd years to realize that, and find it without help............don't move it now!!

Also, when you juxtapose your argument with the topic of women's clothing, I feel it's something that should be............ad dressed

God that was bad.

Regards: Jigs.

I agree with ya roughrider, that way by the time the little woman gets to finally find ya, you know exactly what you want to buy next time she's not around.

Hey WIG, are you the same guy that ties up traffic in the Wal-mart parking lot by circling around for 20 minutes trying to find a spot closer to the front door. Sorry man, you just made it too easy to poke fun.

:D I like to shop and get out fast as well..But having the tackle in the back lets me go straight to it...no wandering around the other isles. Of course when it comes to tackle it does take some time to decide which of the new lures I am going to purchase...good thing the lawn chairs are close by.

No Hoss, quite the contrary! I just would never have imagined most people like going through all those shopping Momma's to get to the "gear".

My complaint has nothing to do with the length of the walk, And yes, I take your jibe in stride, but, I though most guys would feel the same. Want to get in and out. I didn't realize all the "shoppers" we had here :!:
