Proposed Changes to NY Bass Regs

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I think you said it well, Bacon-

You have been conditioned to think that....as we all have.

We DON'T know for a fact how such changes would affect our fisheries.

Again (sounding like a broken record  ), I hope New York goes ahead with this, so that we CAN KNOW the drawbacks/benefits.

Thanks CCB..I hope they go ahead with it too.

So many things over time in many different area's have been proven to be wrong. Maybe this is one of them but we won't know until the research is complete.

We have to be able to sit back and say ok ..this is the way it has been for many years...but what real proof or concrete evidence do we have that this is correct? In the past, they didn't have the sophisticate ways of doing things we have now. Alot of the conclusions we have come to believe as truths (because they have been presented that way time and time again) are merely Hypothosis...

bass fishin

I'm with Wolfe on this one. Bass in this area have a (more or less) stress free spawning on most lakes, and I believe it's necessary for future populations. Just my opinion also: no hate mail required.

That being said, I don't care what they do in New York. I hope they go ahead so we might learn something down the road.

Like Bacon says, we have been conditioned to not fish pre spawn. Good conditioning IMHO.

Where we have fished prespawn (crappies in most sections of the Rideau RIVER), the spring fish is almost non existant now. No doubt someone can point to several million places where crappies have been hammered pre spawn and are still hangin in there same as before.......I don't think I want to buy that bridge.

Ah well............
