How Many of you Keep Bass to Eat??
At least a half of my fishing in the summer is bass fishing. I will admit that I usually will bring home a fish or two for my wife and kids as they absolutely love it. Personally I don't generally eat fish unless it's a shore lunch while fishing.
I never keep larger ones to bring home, always a smaller one. This is mostly to keep the wife happy.
As others have stated I never freeze fish, defeats the point of having fresh fish in my opinion. Anything that I bring home is always consumed either that night or the next morning.

when i was a kid id just go bass fishing for the fun of it fishing from shore. my family didnt target them all that much, we targeted mostly walleye and trout. i've fished bass late last year and kept some for the table and was suprised at how good they tasted, the wife's an awsome cook. i dont catch my limit of anything very often so when i catch a few ive enjoyed the meal. will i eat bass again? yup!

Big suprise to those who know me
But I am allergic to fish
Shocking yes, but I am....
Now I kept a bass for Roxy last year, and have kept a few for my Stepfather over the years, and have to say, my Step-pops, kinda grew out of the taste, and Roxy wasnt to tickled bout it either.
Though if she had enjoyed the taste, I would have kept a few smaller ones for her then and times to come.

I keep one limit a year usually to donate to our annual camp "Fish Chowder" meal. Those fish are usally in 14-16" range, larger ones go back. That's it, the rest of the time they all go back.
I mentioned this before, releasing all fish may not be what's best for a fishery. Selective harvasting has shown very positive results on some bodies of water.

i eat fish that are put and take fish....like walleye.
i personally believe a healthy bass Shouldn't be kept in most cases, but thats just me. We've kept them when fishing in the north backpacking, but we really had no choice.
i know places like nanticoke, where there are 10, 000 bass under 2.5 pounds, its ok to keep them.
but i'd really like to see A LOT of water made C&R ONLY for bass....but once again, thats just my personal opinion.
I think with the amount of stocking of trout/salmon/walleye, they should be eaten. They, for the most part, aren't even natural.
I always wince when i see bass on a stringer, especially 3lbs+ bass....but whatever.
As for fall bass fishing, the best day of bass fishing i've ever had was Sept 30th. Not sure if that counts as fall yet, as its not Oct or even Nov, but the bass were putting on the feed bag.
with local fisheries like simcoe, teaming with perch, and BoQ loaded with pickies, i dont see the need to keep bass (ESPECIALLY AT QUINTE!).
but i close this with the preverbial, each to their own.

I have found a sauce that could make a mooneye taste good, and I found it in a Chinese/Vietnamese grocery store. They had an aquarium in there with about 200 channel cats swimming happily away. The sauce is reffered to as a sweet chilli sauce.

I'm amazed at the number of people that refer to bass tasting inferior to other fish
, I used to keep and eat bass as of last season I opted to release them all,but this is in no way because of the taste . I started off releasing them because my partner at the time woudn't allow bass kept in his boat and have since come to the conclusion that I will no longer freeze fish and as I am the only fish eater in the house I find small walleye and panfish are better suited to me.

Having said that If I was keeping for a shore lunch and that was what I was catching then a feed of bass it would be
