braided line on spining reals?

Ok thanks JP but one more question (excuse my ignorance)

Do you use power pro because it super strong or it doesn't stretch?
I've used mono my entire life and my wife got me power pro at xmas and I want to try it.
But if a leader is used does this not take away from the strength of the power pro (ie become the weaker link) .

Again sorry for the ignorance but I'm just trying to my head around this Super line that people put leaders on and use mono backing???
Hope someone can help me understand all this.

30 pound Power Pro for sure...as you can see it is the line of choice here.
I have not found a better braid...but there are many that are terrible.

I find it simply has the best strengh and sensibility. Tie direct and use a Polamar knot. Breat in the slop adn in clear open water!

In the past I used Power Pro but found that I was getting knots in the line due to the line twists. I than tried Berkley vanish with moderate success. I won't be using either this year but am undecided on what to use.

Really Mike??? I have never had line twists with the PP..one of the reasons I use it!

Hi Guys...

I have been using Berkley FireLine® for the last 3 years with no dissapointments. 8lb test on the Shamano with medium action rod, I get some pretty decent casts. Strength wise , I find it to be the best for the lb test.

Just the nature of spinning reels. It does seem to be worst when you troll with PP than just casting.

I have also been using the FireLine on my spinning reel with no issues. It took alittle while to get used to the feel and the look (after its been used for awhile) but I like it.

Actual braids, like the original SpiderWire, are terrible on spinning reels. Fused lines, like PowerPro or FireLine, are great. I use both PowerPro and FireLine and like them about equally. I don't think either has a big advantage over the other. I prefer both of them over mono or braid.

In my opinion I use the super lines for both Strength and Sensitivity. The leader does not become the weekest link. It depends on what are the differences in the sizes of the lines used.

Mono is used for backing to reduce the line from slipping on the reel.

The Flourocarbon leader is used to make the line less visible in the water without the loss of sensitivity and it also reduces the need to re-spool reels with mono all of the time. Because all you have to do is change the leader.

The choice of line is whatever you feel comfortable in using for that particular fishing application. Everyone has a different opinion and uses different lines.
