Grand River

Hey, I am currently going to school at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo and am finishing up exams tomorrow. Me and one of my buddies are thinking about tryin to get some carp in the grand tomorrow. We aren't from around here so we don't really know and decent spots. If anyone could maybe point me in the right direction in terms of a good location and what they will bite around here that would be greatly appreciated.

I dont fish the Kitchener area of the river. But if you head south to Cambridge you will find Riverside Park on the speed river in the Preston part. Lots of carp in the park ,both in the river and in the duck pond and the creek that flows to the river.There is a tackle shop at the corner of King St and Eagle St that you can get worms at..corn also works. Most of my carp fishing is done south of Cambridge. You could head south on Hwy 24 and pull over by Maple Manor Drive. You should find a path leading to the river there. Worms are my #1 bait because the suckers and cats take it too..that way always something biting. But the carp will take corn if you put a few kernels on a small #4 baitholder hook and then a splt shot a foot or so up. If you are going to check the river in the Kitchener area Victoria St north has some good looking spots close to the road. Ideally this time of year you want a quiet backwash and often you will find them right on the inside edge of the current break. Good luck. I grew up on Spruce - very close to laurier - and still live very close. Great party town and expect to hit it up this weekend! There are lots of great spots for large carp in the area. A couple that come to mind are at the deep, Kaufmanns flats, and even Silver lake in Waterloo park has some biggin's! The deep is the conestoga river off of Northfiled driver. Take King north to conestoga mall - turn right on Northfield and drive for about 5 minutes. Just before you get to the river there is a little and I mean little pond/overflow just across form the horse ranch on your left hand side. The river fills up in the srping and the carp go in there to spawn - but they spend too much time in there and when the river comes down again they get trapped. tons of huge fish in there! kaufmanns is at the end of columbia - take king north and turn right at Mc.Donalds. just giver to the end.

Hey, thanks alot for the help guys. We are gonna check those out in an hour or so. Yeah there is nuff partyin going on here. A little hard to get any work done on time. But i just finished my exams today so time to relax till summer semster starts.
