I got a buddy that sticks two metal poles into the ground with a car battery and jumper cables. It doesnt bring them up from the ground I dont think but it does keep the worms from getting away from your grasp. At least that's what he tells me! I've never tried it myself, never needed it. Just a flashlight and margarine container on a rainy night!

This topic is quite timely.
BigBassBilly has insisted that we go out and catch worms. So we have for the last 2 evenings.
I've got about 1/2 dozen good sized suckers. Billy on the other hand, ain't too fussy. He's probably got about 40 little buggars. And he insists, the big ones are for fishing, the little ones are pets.

you can get them during the day also, mix up a bucket of water with some dish soap and throw it on the ground, try to cover as much ground as possible. i found this out washing my car on the grass at my fathers place, the soap from washing and rinsing the car, my dad said that it burns them, making them come out of their holes.

I've seen plenty, just raking up the wet, dead leaves that sat around my garden beds all winter long. This is the time of year to get plenty.
Waterkan, I laughed as I pictured you and the kids prowling about the neighbors' driveways! (Your older son feeling better now?)

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
Wolfe,
Thanks for asking about my oldest and yes after a couple of days he was back to his normal self, bugging the heck out of his younger brothers,... if only I could get him to cut his hair
I think we're back in the 70's
Picked up two on the driveway this morning putting the garbage out..my wife thinks I'm nuts.... so do my neighbours.
A good rainy weekend in store for us so the umbrellas will be out in full force from my place again on the hunt for the elusive nightcrawler
