I was just up at big gull lake the past week. was out fishing wednesday afternoon, could see the lightning in the distance as i was casting, the storm went off in the distance. A few years ago i was down in little gull pan fishing with my cousins, and a storm hit. then it started to rain hard and a few crackles abound. so we decided to head back in. only had a 8 horse on the boat. didn't think i was going to make it out of the narrows, big huge lighting hitting all around. lots of rocks in the narrows, which made it even more fun. I think we were the last ones off the lake as the storm hit. then the sun came out after the big thunder storm.
Lightning is strange
10+ years ago on Lac St louis in a fishing tournament
i was casting a zara spook on 20 lb mono
a storm was approaching...i looked at my zara spook on the water and noticed that the line was still hanging in a 20 ft arc in the air, it stayed up there for 30 seconds.
A few seconds later i heard this crackling sound in the air and my hair actually stood straight up under the hood of my rain gear .
We got outta there fast..

Finished my book from the library last night, so I don't have another book 'til I get back there. But who needs one with the tales in this thread?!
Jeez, Lucannus. That was one entertaining recollection. Glad I wasn't there. I would have bawled like a baby, I think!
And dana, I've heard about line suspending in air, but luckily haven't experienced it (unless my lure is snagged in a tree). Creepy!

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
What was most entertaining to me was later that evening, The best story they could tell about the whole day was about how I (the english guy) kept putting walleye back in the water! And then made this crazy motion with their hands.wolfe wrote: Jeez, Lucannus. That was one entertaining recollection. Glad I wasn't there. I would have bawled like a baby, I think!
