It is funny that this discussion string from last year has come back up.

When I was out on Simcoe this year I asked the outfitter if I could get some salties and some spreaders and ... much to my surprise I learned that this is no longer a legal method to fish in Simcoe.

I have yet to check the regulations for validation ... probably should and I know someone will... and report back the results here.

Initally what I was hoping to do was just create a nice little honey hole around Petrie somewhere to fish on the derby day....

But try to find salted minnows around here.... forget it. You ask and people just look at you funny. Of course I get that a lot anyway.

Glad that you found this old discussion string Legend... you reminded me to post about the illegal salties issue in Simcoe. I`m personally going to miss that method of fishing for white fish.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned in this tread before but I use anchovies, but not canned anchovies! buy salted one that are not clean, cut them on pieces and put them on the hook.

there is few stores in town that would sell them.One of them would be Italian fish store down on Preston

down here in the summer sometimes there are no minnows available. salted actually work better for perch. their tougher. thats what we do in front of leamington and point pelee.
