My apologies

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Kpin, and Mike.

Thank you for the info.

I'm going thursday to see my family doc, I'll begin to learn then what the options are for the problems I have.

Right off the bat my main concern is the pain control, until I find all my options, on a more permanent fix.

Hopfully I'll get some answers on Thursday as to approx. how long this is going to take, to get something done.

I'll keep ya's posted on the outcome of the meeting, although I can't see getting a whole lot answered then. but maybe get a real good idea as to what we're looking at.

Thanks all.

Back pain

Post by Rocky »

FF,
To quote my favorite "comic," I feel your pain. I had my first back surgery about 15 years ago. I tried chiro. first with mixed results. After about 4 months he put me in touch with an orthopedic surgeon. I was fine for about 8 years. Then another surgery after MRI's confirmed the problem to my neurosurgeon. Then another about a year after that. About 2 years ago I had pain I couldn't shake. I could find relief only by lying on my right side and the neurosurgeon said he could find no reason to operate. Nothing showed on MRI's, CAT scans, spinal taps, you name the test - I had it. I finally went to the pain clinic next door for a series of epidural injections. The 3rd. one finally gave me some relief - that and 15 mg. of controlled release morphene sulfate daily. Sometimes medication is the only way. I worried about addiction, and was assured that as long as the meds were getting to the pain receptors in the brain and thus doing what they were supposed to do, I was OK. I am monitored monthly to make sure I don't get too "happy."

I never found any connection between my back pain and kidney stones. I've had 6 attacks over the past 35 years, but no surgeries needed yet. The intensity of both pains is impossible to describe to someone who has never experienced them. Some of us just have a predisposition to these things, with no genetic reason involved. Get all the info. you can, find a Dr. you can trust, and follow his advice.

Hey Rocky

Thanks for all the info.

I'm in the process right now of pain control.

The meds seem to be doing real good, as i'm able to get around more, with less pain.

Right now I'm not sure where i stand.
Was at teh docs yesterday, and he's not to keen on surgory, with my kindey's still not 100%. I have to talk to my Docs at the renal clinc, and to the neurosurgeon before any further discussion on the next step.
