The guy in the yellow Canoe on Dog Lake...

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

The dilema!

You own a 200hp+ boat....you wanna go fast! Why if you aren't in a tourney is BEYOND me!

You own a canoe/kayak you want people to slow down for you.

Courtesy works both ways. Know your craft and use it appropriately.

If your in a kayak in the middle of a big body of water expect to run into these issues. Conversley if you in a Bass Boat do not BOMB a small channel, steer clear of smaller craft.

Easy does it folks..I simply wanted to thank the fellow who showed a bit of patient courtesy towards me, it really was appreciated.

Carmine is right on the putting the bow into the wave...now try a couple of wakes one after the other.

Carmine, in another 10 years, you'll probably reread this thread and rethink some of this, perhaps not. But operation of a boat and a vehicle is a privilege, not a God given right.

But thanks for your input. It's helped bring to light the importance of safe boating...for all.

Again, thanks to everyone.

Interesting discussion here... Without trying to point fingers and saying "... In MY day..." I would just say that when I was in my formative years, there was respect amongst many strangers especially when it came to safety issues. I was scared poop-less of adults and risked getting my face smashed in if I crossed them in any way.

Not saying it was a better time... just that I do find that many under 30 year old people never had that fear that eventually cultivated respect for others.

You would not have to ask them to skate board on their own driveway or take slap shot at their fathers car and not mine... and you would not get the middle finger from them... you would not have to ask them to take their hats off in a Legion or at a funeral or stand during the national anthem... not have to ask their parents to stop their kid from throwing food two tables over at you in a restaurant or ask them to stop kicking the back of your seat in an airplane... ask them to not throw garbage out their car window or not play their music at 10,000dB at 3am... Open the door for someone or give up your seat on a bus to an elderly person... ask able bodied drivers to not park in a handicap space or to stop swearing around children.

*sigh*

Maybe it is our own fault. Many kids used to learn a lot of common sense and communal responsibility from the Boy or Girl Scouts... most have stopped sending them when kids were coming home from camp buggered up the bum. Too bad there are no eunuchs around anymore... we can make them Scout leaders and have no worries.

Or we can threaten kids that don't show the proper respect and consideration to those around them with sending them to a Scout camp run by Catholic priests on Spanish fly and stock in the KY company!

What's disappointing is you and silver spoon feel a need to teach Carmine the lessons of life. If you know he's 16 why try to engage him in a debate? Does it make either of you feel superior knowing you "told him".

And Joco, settle down.....nobody is out there looking to swamp you and your kayak so put the 80lb Power Pro down before it gets you into serious trouble. Some people are less wise on the water...doesn't give you the right to try to damage their boat.

Its all in good fun, some people are taking things a little to serious, some people are just saying yeah it depeands which boat your in and then other are blowing it out of the water , for those who can take a deep breath its just a little debate

.
If you do not teach a kid lessons in life then what will they become J...Do you have any kids?? I hope if you do you teach them right or wrong. I know Carmine is 16 and I respect him for sure. I was 16 with the same mentality until I was taught different. That is all we are trying to do...I think Carmine knows what is right and not and is just having some fun I hope. Again no holier than thou here just doing what all of us as adults with brains should do...Teach, inform and learn....Just like fishing...Teach inform and learn.
