I can't believe people would actually keep repeating the lies. Someonme tried to frame me and it failed and charges were dropped. As for MCI no life ban for me but not sure about one of those guides.diggler wrote:Trophymuskie wrote:
it's guys ( yes you can insert guides here as I know of 2 that do that ) pounding the same spots day in and day out that destroy a fishery. As well as pounding the fish just off the spawn.
Is that the same guide that you were convicted of trying to hire a hitman to break his legs?
Is it true you have been banned from muskies canada for life over this?
I was actually just threatened of another frame up for the same BS from the guy pulling the strings. Unbelievable what people will do to try and ruin a good honest hard working family guy.
You mind signing your slanderous remarks.
BTW if anyone wants to know the truth they just have to ask me, whatever comes from the bad guys are lies 100% lies.
I've said it before when it comes to people talking about me, if it's good stuff then it's the truth and if it's bad then it's lies.
Must be a lot of dopeheads around to believe all that stuff and to even come on a public forum and slander someone over earsay.
Catch and release them all

1. The angler log programm has been in effect since the inception of Muskies Canada 32 years ago. There is a lot more science that has been completed is being. I just don't have the time to find it all for you. The log program is the one thing that every single member can partake in.]
Thanks, I fully support angler surveys for all species. And its unfortunate the MNR does not get more money for biologists to study habitat, environmental impacts etc to gather actual scientific evidence of the state of the fishery and not just rely on "rod hours divided by number of fish caught" as the science that determines the general health of a fishery. We are in serious trouble if that is the science steering MNR decision making.
[2. OMG - There is spots on every body of water the every one knows about, the get the crapped fished out of them all year. You really think one 8 hour day is going to make a difference??? I was at one of said spots last night...along with a couple other boats...still caught a nice muskie...As any fisherman knows there is more to it than just being in the right spot....conditions, time, presentation etc...]
This is almost exactly what i was thinking, but the thread was generated in reference to the pressure put on by these events. I don't know what the big deal is, but some think its bad, and don't have any science to prove its bad. If they did, they would more than likely change my opinion and yours too.
[3. I Won't speak for Matt other than to say his intentions are good...as they always are..
The prizes...some are donated some are not..it doesn't matter...it's a raffle you buy tickets you might win a prize.....every penny of that raffle money goes back into the fishery in one way shape or form.]
Thank you for the clarification in regards to it being a raffle draw, the online poster made no mention of a raffle draw. So it appeared as though the prizes were to be distributed based on fishing success.
[Alot of people should look in the mirror and say " What have I done to give back to the fishery" is the awnser is nothing....well, shame on you.]
I agree 100% that why I am a volunteer in the FMZ 15 advisory council to the MNR. And why i ask so many questions, so that i can better understand what real issues are out there and sometimes you have to ask "Why?" several times to get to bottom of things.
Thanks again for your responses to my questions.

BTW... for the record...
Pike reach sexual maturity from 3 to 6 years old.
LM Bass reach sexual maturity from 3 to 4 years old for the males and 4 to 5 for the females.
SM Bass reach sexual maturity from 3 to 5 for the males and 4 to 6 for the females.
Walleye at 2 for the males and 5 for the gals...
Musky reach sexual maturity from 3 to 5 years old.
Pretty standard stuff there...
FYI
Female Yellow Sturgeon.... 15 to 32 years old!!!
Quebec Red (Omble chevalier ) 5 to 8 years
Lake Trout 6 to 7 years in the south and 13 years in the north!
Pike are just as cannibalistic as musky... look up small pike eaten by big pike on youtube... You will find that MANY fish are cannibalistic. Guppies, platies, and swordtails... all cannibals... no one designed a special net just for them... Don't know why some people think that musky are the only ones...?
I cant speak for Ontario... but I do know that Musky are stocked in QC lakes and rivers quite extensively. These are MANY musky lakes in QC... small big and huge lakes... Not so certain as to why ON would be any different... other than the increased pollution with all that coal generated electricity over the years... heavy industry... and proximity to Detroit!
As for the "Lone Wolfe" fallacy... well... I just plain do not believe it.
1 - Where there is a single female... there will be at least two lesser sized males during breeding season... don't think they come in on a Grey Hound.
2 - There one particular lake here in QC... not far from where I live... and they have a VERY healthy musky population... as evidenced by the musky cook-outs that they have every year... and if that lake is bigger than about 20 acres I would be shocked... I would have to imagine that there are more than 20 muskies in that lake.
You might think that is provocative.... but it is not meant to be. This is one of the contributing factors to my asking the question about exactly how scientific and based in logic is this idea that Muskies are so special.
As for habitat being scarce or in danger of disappearing... well... again... how is it any worse for them than a lake trout that needs far more specialized environmental conditions to just survive... never mind flourish.
Again... I am not trying to detract from how great muskies are. I think that they are great... just like every other species of fish.
I just don't understand how this Mythos has been perpetuated and sustained over the years. When you scratch a little deeper below the surface... they are no more fragile, reclusive or deserving of anything more than the average respect of any other bass, walleye, pike or trout.
There are different sets of rules around the catching and harvesting for all these fish... they are not all the same through and through. There are differences... I realize that. Just not to the point that they (In my opinion) should be canonized.
I hope my skepticism is not taken out of context as an attack or some form of disrespect... a la Solomon Rushdie or Martin Luther here.... because many musky guys do have that zealot aura about them when it comes to their lord and savior musky...
Here is the page on the MRNF... hope you all read french!

Wow Matt…
That hurts.
I am sorry for hijacking my own thread. I actually started this thread in support of your get together. Out of respect for you, I started this thread rather than start this side bar in yours. I voted yes on your outing. I never thought that asking these questions and looking for some information would illicit this type of response… from you anyway.
What can I say to your post? I do not see anything that contradicts my little Google search that I did while waiting for the sheep to percolate. I don’t claim to know much about anything… women, fishing and farming included. The only thing I was born into as a family tradition was self preservation.
I still do “Claim†to not want to detract from what many of you hold so sacred… Not detract, question. Otherwise sensible people bristle at the possibility that perhaps what they have held as gospel may not be based in fact. It would seem that simply trying to debate this subject might be too painful for many as it appears to regress into an emotional thing for many.
Maybe it is… I don’t know. I don’t Matt. This is why I thought a discussion amongst forward thinking adults would be a good idea. So far it has gone largely well.
I fully expected someone to post some counter points and not start sheep slinging.
I will assume that you are not having the best of times on this board after proposing a cash tourney, and really don’t know who friend or foe is in here at this point. You were trying to do something good and got lambasted here and elsewhere. Please re-read (if you think it’s worth it) my post. I am not sticking a firecracker in a bees nest here. I am genuinely questioning what looks like, to me, falsehoods that have been taken for fact.
Again… maybe I am wrong. If I knew I would never have started this thread.
As for me getting… what I think your saying here… if I might paraphrase… you think I get my jollies posting in here and riling people up… well… to be 100% honest… it does happen from time to time. When I get that PM from someone I don’t know who wants to go fishing… I do get a charge out of it. So far… no less than 14 new people this year. At the end of today It will be 15… off to Pembroke to meet a new friend this morning.
Good luck Matt… I hope to see you at your event.

Presenter:
I have with me tonight Anne Elk. Mrs Anne
Miss Elk. Miss Elk
Presenter: You have a new theory about Muskies.
Miss Elk: Can I just say here Chris for one moment that I have a new theory about Muskies?
Presenter: Er... exactly. What is it?
Miss Elk: Where?
Presenter: No, no. Your new theory.
Miss Elk: Oh, what is my theory?
Presenter: Yes.
Miss Elk: Oh what is my theory that it is. Well Chris you may well ask me what is my theory.
Presenter: I am asking.
Miss Elk: Good for you. My word yes. Well Chris, what is it that it is - this theory of mine. Well, this is what it is - my theory that I have, that is to say, which is mine, is mine
Presenter: Yes, I know it's yours, what is it?
Miss Elk: Where? Oh, what is my theory? This is it. (clears throat at some length) My theory that belongs to me is as follows. (clears throat at great length) This is how it goes. The next thing I"m going to say is my theory. Ready?
Presenter: Yes!
Miss Elk: My theory by A. Elk. Brackets Miss, brackets. This theory goes as follows and begins now.
All Muskies are Thin at one end, much thicker in the middle and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and belongs to me and I own it, and what it is too.
Presenter: That's it, is it?
Miss Elk: Stop on, Chris.
Presenter: Well, er, this theory of yours appears to have hit the nail on the head.
Miss Elk: And it's mine.
Presenter: Yes, thank you very much for coming along to the studio. Thank you.
Miss Elk: My pleasure, Chris ....

If they are so damned special and are so delicate wouldn't the most reasonable thing to do for an animal that you have such respect for, be to work towards improving habitat and push to have the species protected and eliminate targeting them knowing that there is chance of killing it?
Now with that being said, do what ever you like, catch them, eat them, hang them on your wall, take pictures of them, stuff them down potatoe guns and fire them across the lake at each other, but just stop being hypocrites.
