Long weekend Piking and new pontoon boat!!!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Long weekend Piking and new pontoon boat!!!!

Post by MuskieWannabe »

Hey there all, hope the start of the season is going great for everyone. Just a couple things I needed to share because I'm way too excited over here. Firstly, my old man bought a new pontoon boat at the Ottawa boat show, just talked to him and they had it delivered at 1030 this morning. My mom is in heaven now that she has it! I'm heading up to the cottage friday to check it out and cruise around the lake a few times. While up there though, I plan on hitting the water hard for some early pike action. It'll be my first time out this season and am just itching at it to get out there. I have a list of about 20 hooks and lures I am going to try, everything from spoons to spinners to top water baits to try and land something!

I know most everyone has made it out already but due to prior commitments this will be my first weekend so I'm just stoked!!! Regardless of whether or not I catch any trophy fish there will be some pictures monday night sometime.

Good luck to everyone this weekend and be safe out on the water!!!!

Way to go pops!!! :D Scott and yourself must be pretty excited about that. Pontoon boats are so comfortable and make it easy to troll for hours. You can cruise for hours on one those. Good luck with the Pike.

True enough. I think Scott'll be up there for the next week or two on holidays. We'll have to get you out again for some muskies....learnt a few more new things since the last attempt. It opens June 4th in a couple areas, hoping for the 5th to make it out.

For sure, I definitely want to try for the muskies again. I have been buying some bigger lures for musky/pike. I am hoping to pick up a really nice reel soon from a buddy at work and then I will look into getting a good rod for musky. Anyways good luck with the pike this weekend, maybe you'll hook into a monster.

Enjoy the new ride. That's Pink Lady's boat of choice too. I think it'd be awesome to have one here on Erie....Perching parties every week!

My mom isn't into fishing anymore (I have some classic pics of her when she was though!) but she's been wanting one for a while to sit on and just cruise around the lake. It's just another social event for her so she's pretty happy with that. Plus now my old man will be in it so I can take the little trolling boat out and not be concerned if he is out in it already!

If you catch a BIG one be sure to give Scott back the rods that he lost, he should be dragging them around the lake still!!

Congrats on the new ride. We got a pontoon (Fishin' Funrider) last year and I went from a pretty ambivalent fisherman to a very enthusiastic one. They are soooo comfortable. With a potty and a BBQ on it, we can stay out for ages. There's room for to stretch out when you want a break, and a table to eat/play cards at. You won't get anywhere too fast, but the ride is so nice, who cares. Enjoy!
