Yup...definitely late. LOL. Went out for a bit Sat at Billings...pretty slow day. The water is also extremely low.

Well, I don't fly-fish, but is anyone going to be there tonight? I was thinking of getting out there. I'm not sure where I want to go, but probably somewhere close to downtown (so either Billings, or the Champlain Bridge area).

Also, I may have seen you on Saturday afternoon... I went to check out the area and saw someone fly fishing. I was on the bridge looking towards Carleton and there was someone standing right where the last little "rapids" are before the bridge (on the North shore).

cheers,

tallpaul,

That was me....I was the only one fishing in/around the islands on Saturday. I'm definitely tempted to get out after work. I'll probably just hit Billings since it's relatively close and I don't have to cover lots of water (wading) to enjoy some action.

Probably see you out there tonight then...
Like I said, I don't fly fish. I am not sure if I'll bring my spinning rod (more versitile and easier for me to cast) or if I'll use the baitcaster...
probably go with the baitcaster... I need the practice. :)

should be out there by 6:30... I'll wear my hat.

cheers,

tallpaul,

If you're not wading, you will not find too many spots around the islands from which to fish.

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I can find someone to show me around a bit. I don't have "waders" but I am willing to wet my feet/sandals. it looked like i could walk across those little rapids and get onto an island or two?

I also heard that on the other side of the bridge, I can walk out and get near some water I can cast into??

I was wet wading Saturday and hardly got the bottom of my shorts wet and I was all around the islands. You can probably get to about 60% of the locations without getting your shorts wet. I would however suggest shoes as opposed to sandles.

Thanks (again) for the info.

Not sure I have shoes that I can wear, but it's a good idea, so I'll look!

I also read the post(s) started by yff and you were really helpful there too, it's great to see.

cheers,
