Fishing for Disabled... Locations

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fishing for Disabled... Locations

Post by gogolfer99 »

I asked this last spring and got super answers but hoping to get even more this year :). My wife uses a cane because of a car accident. She loves to fish but can't scramble over the rocks. Any tips where we can find a good spot within a hundred yards of the car would be much appreciated. Two hours from ottawa is OK. Got to spend last winter in Nunavut where they catch 40 pound laker through the ice. Course, you're going fishing in -40 weather before adding on the windchill :).

Thanks for any help

Hello Dave and Ruth,

If you have noticed all of the posts lately about Quinte walleye, I can offer up a great spot to fish from shore to catch a trophy walleye. If you travel into the town of Picton and go to the Public Boat Launch (right behind the Tip of the Bay Motel) You can park right beside the water and fish from a park bench all within a few steps. At dusk and night if you cast out a slip bobber with a 3 - 5" live minnow on hook you should be able to land a nice fish. Last weekend when I was brining my boat in at the launch at 8pm I witnessed a young boy land a 12-15lb Chinook Salmon :D .

The drive may be a bit long from Ottawa, but while you are in the Picton area there is great Vineyards and Wineries to visit in Prince Edward County.

Cheers' and good luck fishing.

Hi eye-tracker. I spoke with the creator of the following site, and he's more interested than anyone to find/document places suitable for people seeking easy access to fishing.

Thanks everybody, for your suggestions. We will certainly try all the places. The picton with vinyards and fish certainly got my interest :)
