I dont post often

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I dont post often

Post by Auger »

Folks,

I do not post very often. I enjoy reading all the interesting posts by other members. I use this site for information and to pass the time. Some were taking about not allowing this in the future, however I think that if I stay in the background others must be doing it as well.

Besides if privacy is what you want then you should PM and not post to open forum. Another solution is to charge a admin fee to be a member this way the only way to get to these boards is being a member. By the way Fish-Hawk I dont believe you should set it up the later mentioned above. After all we all want to promote the sport, so anyone can access this information.

Concerning the pestering of other members, which by the way made me sick and prompted me to right this in the first place. Certain rules should be applied when conversing the any tool such as this. Now I know most of the regs who get together for all these fishing meets, (which I have enjoyed reading about, almost made me feel like I was actually there)have developed friendships with other members almost like a family, however, like families tend to squable or maybe its a little bit of jelouseness of who cought what and when. Maybe they or them should step back and look at the whole picture, this is an information tool used for knowledge and pleasure, If your cant respect another member and treat members they way you wish to be then, maybe its time to turn the computer off. Keep in mind that some may appear to be one way but in actuality it is completly opposite.

F-H hope you will understand and not delete this post, names have been omitted for legal purposes.

Thanks for listening

PS Keep the informative post happening, they are being read!

Auger,

I assure you that Hawk Talk will remain an open Forum for all to read. For every person who participates there are a whack of people who just read. And that is fine with us. In fact - it is very important to us.

We will continue to try and maintain a board that is based on certain values and principles - these are designed to add to the Hawk Talk experience. As you have seen, these get put to the test from time-to-time and sometimes we are left scratching our head when someone points out to us that we have been remiss in maintaining the values and principles. Sometimes we just never thought of somethings. Me and Bobber look at each other and say "Holy Gee Whiz - what the heck do we do about that?"

We don't really say Gee Whiz by the way - at least not in public.

It is not like there is a book "How to Manage a Message Board" that we can follow. For the most part I think it is a learning experience for everyone who participates and administers this board. Keeping it a positive spot to go on the Internet is Job One.

Unfortunately, providing a positive experience on the Internet is reason enough for some people to try and degrade it. People like that will always come around and we will always do our best to mitigate their impact.

And that's the poop!

Keep up the good job. I enjoy coming to FH. Maybe someday I'll have a enough skill to catch and then post a picture of that trophy fish. This site has to run at least until I can do that!

Hi Auger et al....

I am an infrequent poster as well. I prefer to read, review and learn from this site. I caught a personal best walleye at Quinte this year, due in large part to the information I garnered from this site. I am not much for the drama, so I don't pay a ton of attention to it, but I am empathetic to those of whom it affects.

We all have something to offer the board. As a community, we need to find the positive message in the statements made by one another. The intention of the board is not for malicious attacks on others, based on individual perception or opinion. Rather, it is to share, educate, learn and maybe even brag a little!! ;-)

I encourage everyone to have fun, enjoy the site and not make the administrator's respective jobs difficult. This is a fantastic place and I am more than confident that this site is responsible for the establishment of a number of friendships/relationships. Let's see the value in one another's individual paradigms, revel in the good and leave the bad stuff out, wherever possible.

Thanks to all. And please, have a safe and happy holiday season. Be safe on the ice and tight lines to all!!

Take care,
