Bow-Mount Trolling Motor for a 16' Sylvan Sea Troller

Post by Race Rock »

I want to buy a Bow-Mount Trolling Motor for my Sylvan 16' Sea Troller and wanted some advice on what to buy. Bass Pro is accorss the street from my office and prefer to go there.

Also any advice on a fish finder would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I will be using the boat mostly on Horseshoe Lake in Parry Sound this summer.

24 volt at least a 50" shaft possibly 55" depending on bow height above water line and whatever your preference is Minn Kota or Motorguide or sometimes it's Motorguide or Minn Kota. I just wanted to cover all the bases. Now to get more responses, I prefer Motorguide with the Kippawa style prop if you are going into thick weeds. You will want at least 50lbs of thrust to be able handle all types of conditions. Varialble is nice but will cost more and so will wireless. I have never had a problem with a mechanical drive style trolling motor(foot pedal). Hope this helps.

I used a Minn kota 55 AP 54" shaft on my old 16' Spectrum (Alum). Pulled it great, even in wind. I know they are pricey, but look at the auto pilot variants, you'll never go back.
