Well, met up with Dad at Merland on tuesday evening.
Armed with a few new cranks and some very helpful info from E.T. and McQ, away we went around 8pm.
We headed towards the Marina (not the Harbour in the tip of the bay) and fished the weedlines, drifting as best we could, maybe 40 feet from shore casting in. It didn't take more than 10 Minutes to land my first pickerel, weighing in at around 1.5 pounds.
Less than 5 minutes after that, Dad nails one coming in at 3.4 pounds. a nice fish and the biggest we've seen so far.
Within 10 minutes again I land another one, a little smaller than my first that we didn't even weigh. We decided after about 20 minutes of no action that we'd pack up and try it again the next morning. Wednesday morning we decided it was so nice that we should head out to Timber to try for a laker or two.
Joke's on me, All I caught was a sunburn and dad caught less than that!
almost 5 hours in that heat nearly killed us and I don't think we even managed to try the bay Wednesday night. It sure didn't quelle the fire pit though, and they rambled on till nearly 3a.m.
Thursday we headed out again around 11:00, battling the wind and a little fatigue, dad got one about an hour or so in around the same spot we were tuesday evening. We zipped around to try a few more spots, one of which was taken up by a ship waiting to get into the cement plant.
While we weren't pulling them in hand over fist its been our most successful outing on the bay yet this year, and hopefully they keep getting better.
Thanks again to Eye Tracker and McQ for all the handy info they provided.
