Minn Kota problem!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Minn Kota problem!!

Post by zaconb »

I have a 44lb MK maxxium foot control that has started acting up. It seems like the cable has stretched and I can no longer control it. When I flip it over one of the cables is off the track and when I put it back on there is lots of slack!
Any suggestions, do I chuck it and get a new one, it's 4 years old and was working fine up till a few weeks ago.
Thanks

there is a tension screw that can be adjusted on the underside of the foot pedal. get your cables on track and simply tighten it with a screwdriver. if I remember correctly it is between the two idler wheels that the cables sit on.

Be carefull not to over tighten the screw though. You can snap off the wheel inside the head if you do. If you can't get it working, there is a service centre for Minn Kota in Blackburn hamlet, J & S Service Centre. I have found them very good to deal with.
