Has anyone fished the Mattagami area and if so hows the fishing and what lakes should I try I will be going for pike ans eyes

That's a heck of a drive not to know where you're going.
Lac du Goéland has good fishing but is also a very large and shallow lake. When the wind picks up, watch out... For other lakes around there I have mostly driven by and gone further north... If you want another area, try Mistassinni/Chapais and its suroundings, in June they have the "Festival du Doré", a 3 week lond walleye tournament with great prizes... check it out at http://www.festivaldudore.com/
Pretty much every lake up there is filled with eyes and pike, just make sure you know where to put your boat in and who does what for accomodations. For Lac du Goeland for example, you can't make reservations (no pun intended) but a few local natives run the "campground" and charge you for putting the boat in. When I went, it was all OK but nothing seemed very official.
