Be careful driving

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Be careful driving

Post by Namaycush »

Early morning trips can be dangerous.

Two weeks ago a friend and I had a good morning fishing lakers east of Ottawa.

Not a bad morning.

I decided to try the lake again last Sat. Motoring along on a bright clear morning about 6AM and out jumps a deer. No one hurt except the deer.

A very expensive morning. The investigation officer (OPP) suggested that since we no loner had two head lights we should continue on to the lake we planned to fish about (10 KM.) and wait to drive home after it got light. Fished till about 11, one small alker (lost another good one at the hole) and two perch,

Although I do not think I could have avoided this accident, I wanted to remind everyone that driving the back roads in Eastern Ont. at this time of year in the pre-dawn can be dangerous. Bummer!!!

Hey Larry, I have been living in a rural area for over 20yrs now that has a high population of deer and "knock" on wood have not had any wildlife collisions with our vehicles....one thing I would recommend is a deer whistle that mounts on your vehicle and sends out a high frequency that alerts deer....
