Best placement for rod holders?

Post by grrrant »

I picked up a couple of Scotty rod holders and I was hoping for recomendations on the best placement and method of installation. I have a Princecraft Pro 164SS, similar to the Fish-Hawk "Ride". I'm hesitant to drill holes through the top of the gunwhales. There's a shelf below the gunwhales and there appears to be room for the rod holders, but it would somewhat limit the angle adjusment of the rodholder. Any suggestions?

This is my set up for Muskie trolling. I purchased the downrigger supports to almost eliminate the drilling into my boat. My work was done by Dave from Trojan Tackle. Mailed the brackets to him. He worked his magic and shipped them back to me. Great guy to deal with.

Thanks Gades66,

That's a great looking set up, and something I will definitely consider, however, $$$ is a concern. That doesn't look cheap!
