Broken Fly Rod - Looking for Replacement

Post by Salar »

Hi Everyone,

I broke the tip off my backup fly rod yesterday. It doesn't have a warranty so I'm looking to replace it. I'm looking for a 9' 5wt. Does anyone have a used rod that they'd be willing to sell?

Thanks,

broken fly rod

Post by Morley »

Hi Salar,

what brand of rod is it? If it's an expensive rod I would suggest going online to purchase a blank and then rebuild it yourself using all the parts from the broken section. I did that last month with an old handmade rod that I'm very attached to. It's a very easy fix and much more economical than buying a new rod.

Hope it goes well

It was a cheap Diawa rod that wasn't worth saving. I used it as my back up rod and also in my boat where i didn't mind so much if it got broken.

Thanks for the info though.
