Lake yyz report

Post by farmerkid »

After buging my dad to bring here since spring, he finally brought me to this lake in gatineau. Awesome nice size lake thats full of fish.

At first tried casting for pike with no avail so we went into this bay for bass. This smallie was the first fish of the day

And then come the LMB

This bay was full of small bass but no big ones since it was only 1-2 feet deep. I caught about a dozen fish there and the best was the one thats the 3rd LMB pic.

When then get out and start headind slowly to this other bay while fishing the weeds going there. And thats when the big guns came out.

(images that are grouped together are the same fish)

The first 2 i guess are in the 3's and maybe pushing to 4. And the last one there was my biggest of the day, i guess its pushing into the 5's. note that i'm holding all the fish close to my body. Buy i could be abit off, so tell me what u think they way.

We then went back to the beach to spread are legs and go swimming for 1h. And after that we went to the other side of the lake to try for some pike because there supposed to be some big ones in this lake. After 20 min. nothing, so i put on my last senko (now the only way i fish for bass since they always take it :D ) and tried for smallies on this rocky weedy shoreline that was about 7-8 feet deep. So i start casting and of course i hook into a bass, but it was a largemouth. i was surprise since this does not look like LMB habitat, but i'll take what i'll get! :D

A fattie! And he was smart to! i let him go, fix my worm, cast in the same general area, bite, reel it in, and its the same fish with the hook mark where i caught him 1 min. ago!

Then came this guy

Image

Another nice bass. After that we decide to head back, so on the way to the parking/beach i trolled and caught the only pike of the day and my last fish.

A little guy.

But this was an awesome day, by far my best fishing day and i will definetly come back to this lake (a few of u guys know this lake 8) ) . There's also LOADS of bluegill EVERYWHERE. I even hooked a big one. But overall i caught about 25-30 fish today and we only covered like 8% of the lake. So to fish it all u could easily catch hundreds of fish.

Those are some nice fish. That must have been a very fun day.
This bay was full of small bass but no big ones since it was only 1-2 feet deep
It would be a mistake to think big bass don't spend some quality time in 1-2 ft of water.
