"Dr. Steve Cooke from the Fish Ecology Institute of Environmental Science at Carleton University will be the guest speaker at Tuesday's regular meeting (Oct 7). Steve is a dynamic individual well respected in the academic world of fisheries science. He's fairly new on the Ottawa scene but already has mentored a number of post graduate students on various fisheries-related research projects around eastern Ontario including L. Opinicon and Dow's lake on such species as smallmouth bass and muskellunge.
Steve will talk about catch & release angling for various species and the impact of temperature on survival rates, and the use of barbless hooks. He may also touch on some of his work with bonefish in the Bahamas.
