Being new to the Kingston area, I have been relying on popular mapbooks, etc to find several lakes in the search for trout....but the three I've tried seem to full of smaller, skinny fingerlings. Any help would be great! (Finding many 5pnd LM was easy enough and a pike that broke my Xi2 9wt in two!)
I don't have much lake fishing experience in these parts but I think a float tube might help. I have a SCADDEN but i usually end up hiking for a hour or more to these spots and its too heavy.
Seems to be a fair number of tubers here so maybe a few will put theire two cents on which brand of tube to get?
I am not looking for a favorite hotspot but maybe some friendly advice on a good spot within 2hrs of kingston for trout. For trout I will go anywhere.
And maybe some favorite flies for the lakes in zone 18?-woolys and nymphs seem to work pretty well so far.
thanks for any help.
A Little Advice?
Have you contacted the Kingston fly fishing club. I'm sure you could get some good info at the November 24 th meeting.

In addition to synching up with the local club, you will find lots of trout waters in upstate NY. Go back through the posts this section of Fish-Hawk and you will find lots of talk about the rivers, streams and lakes in upstate NY.I am not looking for a favorite hotspot but maybe some friendly advice on a good spot within 2hrs of kingston for trout. I have a Super Fat Cat LCS and I love it. I'm 6'2" and 230 lbs and an 8 hour session in the tube is no problem.Seems to be a fair number of tubers here so maybe a few will put theire two cents on which brand of tube to get?
