Bass tackle?

I fish general species and Muskie.I am thinking of putting together a tackle box for Bass only.I have very little experience with targeting bass specificly,so my question is what are the must haves for bass fishing?Im thinking of an assortement of soft plastics and spinnerbaits,but the selection is overwhelming!Any help would be great

if you realy get into bass fishing you should consider buying some surface lures

1 - the SPRO frog best used in dence cover lilly pads , triangle heads, thick angel hair... the hooks are 100% weed less and the bass (when active) will swallow is RAW!

2- hulla popper best in open water. use it over cabage . rocky points...

bass will hit this lure agressivly @ dawn .

3- (personnal favourite) the buzzbait.

use this with a bait caster . this lure targets the real BUCKETS!

stumps ,logs, lilly pads triangle heads.... i cast it everywhere ...

best used in windy days! with my experience!

as you can see im a surface guy! this is a MUST in your tackle box!

many great bass anglers on this site. all have there own things.. pick up all the info you can!

White spinnerbait

White Big O

White scum frog

5'' gulp sinking minnow in black or watermelon colour....

Not a bad start

my favorats include
a white spiner bait
a white spro frog
a blue and silver hedon super spook
a rapala skitter pop
a rapala x rap
and a rapala husky jerk
oh and you cant forget a white senko
you pretty much cant go wrong with anything white
tight lines
walleye man

I always start with the white Big O. I have caught pike, walleye, rainbows, lakers, perch, largies and smallies on this lure.

Next is the Bomber Long A.

For the slop I use the Moss Boss. I miss most of the fish with this lure. I think my excitement leads to a hasty hook set that takes the lure away before they have taken it.

Surface ones I like are the Jitter Bug, Zara Spook and the Skitter Pop. I do want to try the X Rap Subwalk next season.

Hopefully, by the end of next season I can help you out with the plastics.

God, if my wife saw this list she would want to know why I have two full tackle boxes if I only listed the above lures

I've caught some Bass on Tubes. Pretty easy to use them and they are fairly inexpensive.

Rodbreaker: If someone came in the store and asked that same question, this is how I would get them started

Tubes, 3 1/2" in crawdad and green neon colours

Tube jigs in 1/8 and 1/4, maybe heavier, depending on where you fish

Eagle Claw HP hooks and 1/8 bell sinkers, for fishing those tubes in cover

Senkos. 5" and 4" in green neon, junebug, watermelon, green pumpkin. Again, these colours can vary a lot depending on where you primarily fish.

7" worms, along with hooks and sinkers

spinnerbaits in golden shiner and chartreuse/white. I prefer 3/8, but thats just me

Shallow running cranks, such as Big O, Mann's-1, or the waker series

A couple of rats for over the slop, and you've got a good start.

Reaction Innovations Beaver (Hemmatoma!) or the Berkley Beast
YUM! 3" grubs with LPT. No Smallie can resist! I've caught nice largies with it too.
Waveworm Scorpion-plastic
Senko's in varying lengths and colors (I find the one I feel confidence in works best).
Spinners and buzz-baits-White and black, Red's and coppers, Chartreuse

I also find that flipping jigs and deadsticking creature baits to be effective.

But every year I find that something new works great also. But these and the other suggestions posted are all great go-to's.

A friend of mine and I fish Dalhousie exclusively for bass and walleye. He prefers certain colors and I prefer others. He does well on his color choice and I do well on mine. But when we switch.....not so much.

My suggestion is to go with colors you feel confident in.

My wife loves pink plastics and catches alot of good fish with them...even a few Renegade guys laughed when she told them. They tried them out (pink) and caught a few......

My point, don't be afraid to try some outrageous colors!

Oh and to keep it masculin the color is not pink on the package....its bubblegum!

I have had success with a lot of the tackle mentioned. I've fished many areas around here and in the valley and find that on hard fishing days I go with light tackle with worms and I rarely get skunked. I've caught some real lunkers on my light system also. I don't fish slop with it though just close to weeds and shoals.
