Are any of the lakes open yet?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I'm being a bit wishful, but will a windy week get the ice off Muskrat by the long weekend?

Most of the lakes around my area are almost completely open. I would say by the end of the week the ice will be out.

Mississippi Lake is open as is the Kilmarnock section of the Rideau River.
Dalhousie is also open in alot of spots at the mouthes and the Miss river section.

Shouldn't be long now!

DROOOOOL! Can hardly wait. The Ottawa near Deep River is still pretty much covered. The channel is open sometimes but still plugging up with drifting ice. Around Pembroke looks pretty good though. Gonna try getting out this weekend on the Muskrat for some lakers. Hope all the Hawker weather forecasters are right! I never got a chance to get out on the ice this year at all, so I'M READY! lol

Can`t wait either.
I don`t want to sound like your dad but guys if you go out on water soon, remember it`s COLD and even some small strams are running good and can catch you by surprise.
We had to try to find the guy that drowned last week with work, Fire dept.
I`m stationed at one of the water and ice rescue station and every year something happens.
wear survival suit or al least lifejackets t`il it warms up, i know i will even if i dont always do in the summer.
crap does happen when you dont think it will. We go out to do training early spring in dry suits and it still doesn`t feel good when you fall in.
