Reel - drag

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Reel - drag

Post by Matt Bass »

I have a quick question which I am sure many of you have the answer.

I bought a new Curado and put Fireline (braided) on it. Last week-end I found out that my drag was practically not working. Should I have put a mono to start on the reel? Or what else can it be?

Thank you
Matt

Yup,sounds like the braid is spinning on the arbour.Put a little piece of tape around the arbour.then wrap it with mono(just enough to cover the arbour)then attach your braid using a uni to uni type knot.
Dirty....mean....mighty unclean.

If you start with mono then you don't need tape on the spool. just a layer of mono then uni to uni with the braid.
