Lac Duval quebec ?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Lac Duval quebec ?

Post by madog99 »

Anybody ever get in to this lake ? Looks to be a nice big hunk of water and according to my backwoods fishing book there is a road of sorts ? It also says there is a boat launch , but I have tried that before and there was no place to even launch a canoe , unless you like walking through the bush for 1/2 mile or so . Trying to plan an august trip , camping with a 16 ft trailed boat . Got a 4x4 pickup so can do a bit of rough road , but not crazy stuff .
It's up near lac Bryson if that helps jog the memory of someone . Not looking to fill the boat , but enjoy some nice camping and fish would be a bonus of course .

thanks in advance .

You might want to look at the Quebec regs., this lake is only open 1 week a year in June.

I know the area up North and South of the Lake. Unless you want to ruin your trailer, boat, etc. I would recommend you access by the south part of the Lake. By the North side, you will need an army to bring your boat down the forest ridge onto the water (quite a distance).

From the south, you can ask the exact turn-off from the registration house of St-Patrice ZEC, they will be of help, even if the Lake is not part of the ZEC. They will also advise you on the condition of the South road.

Bottom of lake is pretty much rock bottom, so no real vegetation growth, so lake trout grow very slowly, and you could catch a laker that's older in other lake, but only come in sizes that are inside the release slot.

Not worth it, but I do understand that some local metis catch them anyway (whenever) what matter the size. There was a flying "pot operation" a few years back by them. Think it got dismantled (until the next harvest).

I spoke to someone who told me that during the "season" it is packed with boats . I guess I will have to call the ministry to find out what the deal is as the on line regs don't mention it other than 50cm size .

Thats what I was told as well, and that you need to show up a couple days before opening just to make sure that you have a place to park/camp.... my understanding also is that the lake was open for only a week.

I fish this lake every year and i think someone has been blowin smoke up yer you know what. its easy to get to if you have 4 wheel drive. Boat numbers have really dropped over the years and fish size has gone up. the only way you will ever find it though is to go in with someone who knows the way. season is June 1st to the 9th and only fish larger than 50 cm can be kept. want more info PM me

Hey there 'shine , very nice of you to offer ! My buddy picked a great time to take off on vacation with the truck (sitting at the airport in TO all week !)

Would be nice to do a day trip next year and check it out , looks to be nice chunk of water for camping and boating though . I still find it very strange that there is no mention of the season in the regs , what if some poor fella wandered in and started fishing out of the "season " . They must have posted signs or something to warn people if the regs don't mention it at all .

Again thanks for the kind offer man !

I have fished Duval from 1990 till 2003.....I remember when it took us no less than an hour to make that 7km side road trail at Km 60!!!  Was really sporty back then...came a time where they fixed that road and took us maybe 7 mins to get to the lake   .....I haven't been there since but I here the trail is bad again!

A for fishing.....was real good at the time!....biggest laker I got @ Duval
