Life has been pretty hectic and so fishing over this summer has mainly been for a few hours at night for gar.
Mike and I hit the Ottawa and joke about hitting up 5 different species.
We start at a hump, tossing jigs, hoping to weed out some bronzies.....
Well the bronzies WERE not biting and we couldn't figure out why.....
Then Mike lays into a good fish....walleye he says....
A few seconds later he says...A really nice walleye!
Then the "walleye" shows itself......its a 45' musky....caught on a bass jig!

Thats species 1 struck off the list and we havent even started to toss musky baits!
So we keep on fishing....
I nail a nice pike on a swim bait....Here's Mike holding it while I snap a pic...
Thats species 2!
We keep on trucking down the weedline.....we reach the mouth of a marina and POW!!! A MONSTER smallie hits but gets off Mike's line!
We head to a different part of the lake....and I get a small LM on a jig....not really a pic worthy one BUT still its.....Species 3!
Then the action just dies down....a few small SM come to the boat but that's it....Mike strikes a plan to spend 10 minutes back at the marina mouth....With a vengenace to catch the one that got away!!!
Jig...Jig....Jig......POW!!!
And there it was!!! Didn't get away a second time!
I mean who catches a musky and a nickel on the same day!!! LEGENDARY!!!!
