New to the Area!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Welcome first off,

And as for your question, you are lucky as Ottawa is literally surrounded by a 'mote' full of fish.

From the Ottawa to the north, the canal slicing right through its core, the Rideau meandering to the south, all offer great fishing opportunities.

Or if you want to part with some hard earned dough, RJ or Yannick are good lads to show you how to take the leg work out and find your choice of sport fishing opportunities!

We have damn near every Ontario species available short of salmon, within a few minute drive from the core of Ottawa.

So the better question may be, I am looking for 'Insert Species' and have a car, bus pass, via rail card!

Cheers, and hope we can get you on some fish!

Welcome to the area and the forums Garry. Lot's of rivers and lakes within 25 min to 1-2 hours from Ottawa. But you have the Ottawa River on your doorstep, and IMO it's the biggest, healthiest, most diverse, and most under utilized for it's size fishery this side of the Larry. Good place to start unless you wish to target trout.
Here's a great map a member here put together if you want shore fishing. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... 7olwpLxdXI
If you would like the luxury of a guided fish, there are members here who offer that.

If you could supply more info like your setup, whether canoe, tinny, bassboat, etc, along with some objectives, like maybe trout lakes, then I'm sure folks here could help you out. Don't be shy to ask.

Cheers
