Muskie fishing wendover
Muskie fishing wendover
Been trying for two years now... Went on a charter and got a little taste of Muskie fishing (32 inch). But that was out in renfrew area. Ever since I've bought rods and tackle for Muskie but no success. Was looking maybe for some key spots or lures that I should consider. I'm open to any free advice!

You're in the right spot anyway, lots of nice fish in the Wendover area. I'm no expert but I can give you a few truths that have served me well over the past couple years.
1) Fish with more experienced guys than you as much as you can. (fished with John A. 4 or 5 times now, always learn a ton)
2) There's always fish in shallow
3) Find the greenest weeds you can both early and late in the year (anytime really)
4) Blades work, burn them as fast as you can, then burn them faster
5) Always do some sort of boatside figure 8 or at the very least BigC

A1 Info right there. I'll add time on the water to that equation, and try to make that time at primetime.BigC wrote:You're in the right spot anyway, lots of nice fish in the Wendover area. I'm no expert but I can give you a few truths that have served me well over the past couple years.

Come out to the Muskies Canada Ottawa Chapter meeting at 7:30 pm on August 18th at the Orleans Legion.
Do not be shy. Any one is welcome.
You do not have to become a member that night, just check us out.
You will learn a lot and the guys there have caught a lot of muskies and will share way more information than you can figure out on your own.

To add to what BigC wrote... I would just suggest to not give up on spots. Take all the info you can and apply it to your fishing environment. If everything points to a spot holding muskies... well, it does. Just change up times of day, conditions and lures when you visit these spots. They will pay off. I have fished spots 10 times without success... before finding out the key to that spot. I sometimes hit spots 3 or 4 times thoughout the day.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Second what RJ said about being on the water for prime time. Easiest time to land one of these fish is in or around a full moon or new moon. if the moonrise is close to the same time as sunset your chances go up even more.

That's a hole lot of info to take in boyz... I'm going to try and sneak out again this weekend and put some of that information to the test! And as for that meeting on the 18th, if I don't work to late I'm going to check it out for sure!! Thanks again for the information!!!!! I will keep everyone updated!!
