Salmon Fishing Rod Set Up

Hi,

Can someone give me some advice what is the typical Salmon Fishing Rod and reel configuration?

I like to buy a set of Salmon Fishing Rod and reel combo but have no idea what rod length, power and action should get.


I am looking at the Fenwick HMX Salmon/SteelHead rod series, 10.6 feet Extra Light Power Rod, 2-10 lbs line test and max. 5/8 oz lure weight.

Is this rod too light for Salmon Fishing?

I have the same rod. I've had it for 3 years now and I use this rod in the streams for salmon and steelhead. Its a very good rod for the price.
