Maker a Laker....
Maker a Laker....
Bit of a catch up report here on the Laker bite as of late. Once the heat of summer arrives and the thermocline sets up our local Laker population just get that much more predictable. I LOVE predictable fish...
Whether guiding or out with family and friends we never troll, always on the jig. 4 and 5 inch swimbaits. Nothing beats that strike 90 feet down directly under the boat and the ensuing fight. So fun.
This young lad popped his Laker cherry on a trip with his Dad, they bagged 7 that day.
Finally cleared 4 schedules and had a few familiar faces aboard the Lund. Grant, Luke and Huddy wailed on em to a total of 15 Greasy Darlins.
With only a few weeks left in the season it should heat up even more. I only have 2 open dates left before season end...

Which swimbait do you like to use?RJ wrote:...always on the jig. 4 and 5 inch swimbaits......
Do you use line counter real to know how deep you are jigging?
Re: Maker a Laker....
I use various swimbaits. Berkely Ripple Shads are always good. Jackall Ammonite Shads are great later in the season as well.
I don't use a line counter as I don't really fuss about where the bait is in the column, as long as its not on the bottom or the top 10 feet. Other than that I've caught Lakers everywhere else. Depending on the wind I can usually follow my bait on my sonar....

Looks like a fun time of year, especially when you crack the code on a predictable pattern! I have to say Grant looks really....relaxed...these days and that is fun to see. I can just hear the smack talkin' from here !
tight lines and luck with the FH site!
