Plowjock's Year End Report
Plowjock's Year End Report
March.. really upset with global warming, boat stayed in Garage all month, normally on Mississippi by late March...one month lost of fishing time.
April.. Hit the Mississippi a few times, found a few small crappies towards end of month. Still cold water temps, not much action.
May... Action started heating up, once pike and walter season opened up. Once we found the eyes it was game on... shaky heads and dinner.
Found many cooperative eyes, many over the slot limit and many more under the slot. Got around to using jerk baits to get their attention, and that we did.
Have to say, the Mississippi is in good shape for eyes and many other species.
June... Lake trout... my karma is missing these beauties. Only a few years ago had a magnificent opening day with over 30 over the gunnels. This year nada, zilch.
Thank goodness bass season opened in June and the fun began, between chasing green friends, brown buddies and walters.
Kept busy lifting fish over the gunnels with frogs doing good damage to many finned green friends.
Drop shot also invited more of my good brown buddies into the Lund Fury, with an odd good sized walter coming to visit.
July and August, slowed down because of the heat, but by end of August, had a few more good days out tossing a frog in the rice.
September, rested waiting for cooler temps and more active larger fishy friends.
October.... GAME ON cut the number of rods down in the boat to only 4. All had jerk baits tied on, and RJ, Brad, Norm, Trevor, Pete and Zeke, know what has happened.
Since Thanksgiving weekend saturday until today, 511 fish have crossed over the gunnels. Many large Mouth bass and crappies with my first 6 ..14 inch crappies caught and released, mostly on the jerk baits, slow long pauses and feel the hit of a giant crappie, just like a bass.
Then there was the odd occasional trip to search for ginormous small mouth bass, which did occur with my PB on Zeke's scales of 5.6 lbs.
The season continues until water is too stiff for Lund to break through. As Yogi used to say," it's not over til it's over."
I hope to be soft water fishing up to Dec. 15, end of Bass season.

Diddy of a little write-up from ya Brian. Nice to hear how you're doing. Lund partners, we still need a day you know. May to October this year, I'll pretty much be retired too, so we should make it happen.

Shawn, I'm still getting out. Got another 22 big smallies yesterday up the Valley.
It was 2nd last day of the season up there.
Still have until mid December to fish for bass in this zone.
You wanna bet that I'll be out at least 4 more times, if not more.
Best sized fish this time of year, and NO boat traffic.

511 since thanks giving! WoW!!
Re: Plowjock's Year End Report
By the looks of the weather forecasts, I can see at least 3 more soft water outings before end of Bass season.
Gotta get me a 6.0 lber. and get up to 600 fish this fall.
Impossible you say, it is if you put your boat away in September.
This is the best season for BIG FISH and MANY of them.
Merry Christmas everyone on Fish-Hawk

Great recap but I'm a visual person .. where are the pics!
The numbers of fish that I've seen you catch and heard from others truly is mind-boggling .. I know that day you went out with Trevor you put 166 fish over the gunnels .. I'm tired just thinkin' of it!
That's a great boat you picked up this year and it's sure getting a good workout!

Ok, I'm getting kind of tired of getting my butt kicked by you every time we are out of the water!
I guess it's all of those many, many, many.many, many years of experience
