any east end lowrance owners??

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

any east end lowrance owners??

Post by Mick »

I am having trouble with my sonar - I cannot figure out if it is a wiring issue or if the unit's head is shot. Everything that I can see on the wiring side appears fine. What I was hoping to do was find a lowrance owner to see if my unit can plug into your boat and see if it powers up.

Mick what model of unit do you have?
I will help any way I can to trouble shoot your issue.

I'm not near you but I may be able to help you out a bit. One of the things you should check first is the in-line fuse holder. Apparently they were having some trouble with them getting moisture in there and it would give some problems. I was having some intermittant problems with mine and that's what it ended up being. If it is a GPS unit another thing to check would be the power connections for the module. If it is the slight bit loose it can give some troubles. Hopefully it's nothing serious and you can get it figured out.

what do you mean by intermittent problems with the in line fuse? I looked at the fuse and it looks fine to me. I was thinking that it would either be popped or not and it looks intact. Is it possible that the fuse is not popped but is still a problem?

Does yours have the four prongs with the flat bottom on the power jack attatching to the head unit? if so I think mine is a lowrance and your welcome to come by and plug er in. Im in orleans too.

Mick,
When mine was giving me troubles I thought the same thing about the fuse but I was wrong. My dealer told me they can get a small amount of corrosion on them that would make them loose a good contact. I took mine out, buffed them and put a small dab of grease on them and I haven't had any troubles since. I know it sounds to simple but give it a try, I was skeptical at first but it seems to have worked for me.

Mick i would suggest a more technical approach.....
Bring it over to D-mo's
D-mo...set up your smoker
Place it on D-mo's smoker and make
"Pig Candy" out of it....

Go out and buy a new unit, bring D-mo along
and you'll get a killer deal.

Poozymo Out.
